Hailing from the United States, Jessica and Justin decided that Prince Edward County was the spot for their destination wedding. Jessica’s family has a cottage nearby and they’ve always loved the area so why not get married there!
During our Skype meeting we bounced ideas back and forth for extending wedding coverage because we knew we’d not get a chance to do any Prince Edward County engagement photography and we figured shooting their rehearsal dinner would be an awesome way to get to know each other, meet their wedding party (all 2 of them) and have something to eat and drink together. It’s rare that I get the opportunity to photograph the rehearsal dinner but man was it a lot of fun. Their entire wedding guest roster was at the dinner and it was basically a wedding without the “I do.” part. There were speeches, a fantastic dinner, music, dancing and lawn games on the family property. I knew I was in for an exciting wedding day.
The next day we convened at The Waring House with the skies looming. We moved up the first look a little bit and made the decision to shoot family formals a little earlier (everyone was already onsite so the timeline was flexible) just in case the skies opened up on us. We all know that the PEC weather can change in a blink so being flexible in the photography timeline was a big bonus (the skies never opened up but it was still a good choice)
Jessica’s amazingly detailed dress starkly contrasted the lush greenery as she walked up between the vines for their first look. Their laughter and softly spoken I love you’s were a romantic start to the day that would turn into a festival of side eye, hilarious laughter, eye rolls and hands in the air celebrations. Any wedding that mixes a dance party in between speeches / dinner is awesome… eat a little bit, dance for a while, sit down again and raise the lights for a couple of speeches and some more h’orderves and then shut the lights off and party til 1am.
I had a wonderful time at their Prince Edward County Wedding and together we made some seriously fun photos …here’s a few of them:
