I met Chelsea and Rob at a wedding a couple of years ago where Rob was a groomsman (Stephanie and Colin’s Wedding was also an insanely awesome party). We hit it off talking about bands and beer (Rob’s a singer in a band and also a beer lover) and they said “When we get married you’re our guy!” …fast forward a year and he popped the question and she sent me an email asking if I was available (well – saying whatever date in June I had available was going to be their wedding day).
I started the day in Vankleek Hill at Beau’s All Natural Brewery where we did the tour, drank some beers and the fellas shared some laughs on the patio (and some inappropriate touching). From there I found the girls at Chelsea’s grandparents farm near Ottawa and we trampled around the property in a wedding dress making photos with her family and her ladies.
The ceremony location was a short drive away to her cousin’s farm where everything was beautifully set up in the homiest of ways – old church pew benches for family to gather on, open spaces for congregating after the ceremony (including my previous bride, Stephanie, handing out her famous alcohol infused cherry gummies that were delicious!).
Both Rob and Chelsea are huge fans of The Mahones and Chels had arranged a surprise for Rob during their ceremony. Katie Kaboom (also a Mahones member) was the officiant for the day and that wasn’t a surprise but in the middle of the ceremony Finny walked out from behind the bushes singing a love song for them to dance and everyone watched Rob tear up at the sight of one of his favorite dudes.
The reception in the barn on the property was the perfect blend of roasting and romance as the live band played for everyone partying inside and out by the giant firepit beside the barn.
I had a wonderful day with these two as they said I do and let’s party… here’s a few of my favorites from the day:
